About This Recipe

If you love a good, hearty salad you have to try this Chick fil a Cobb Salad! It’s seriously one of the best copycat recipes and is so easy to make!

It’s made with just a few simple ingredients and topped with the best homemade salad dressing. Not only is this traditional cobb salad so easy to make, it’s sure to save you a few extra dollars too!

Why should you make this chicken cobb salad recipe at home? That’s easy! As much as I love Chick-fil-A, sometimes it can be a hassle to go to the restaurant each time! Plus, grabbing a salad for lunch every day can add up!

By making this classic American salad at home, you can save time, money and can adjust any of the cobb salad ingredients to your dietary needs or restrictions!

I love homemade salads because they’re a great balance of carbs, healthy fats and protein! They’re a great way to make sure you’re getting in lots of veggies while also being filling and delicious!

This version of the cobb salad truly tastes like you’re eating something super indulgent but is actually packed with nutrients, fiber and will satisfy your taste buds every time!

Why You’ll Love This Copycat Cobb Salad Recipe

  • Skip the drive thru and save time and money with this delicious copycat recipe of your favorite salad!
  • Prepped and ready to eat in just 20 minutes!
  • Adjust this salad for your dietary preferences and restrictions without any hassle!
  • Pairs perfectly with my lightened up avocado lime ranch dressing or use your favorite dressing of choice!
  • Made with a variety of fresh ingredients that you might already have on hand!

Ingredients and Substitutions

Ingredients for Chick-fil-A cobb salad.
  • Chicken nuggets – I used Just bare chicken nuggets but any type of cooked chicken works! Use leftover rotisserie chicken, canned chicken, Blackened Chicken Tenders, Crispy Air Fryer Chicken, Grilled Air-fried Nuggets or Grilled Balsamic Chicken!
  • Lettuce
  • Corn – fresh, frozen or canned corn works great!
  • Bacon – I used precooked bacon. You can also use turkey bacon if you prefer.
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Tomatoes – you can use grape tomatoes, cherry tomatoes or regular diced-tomatoes
  • Cheese – I used a thick shredded blend of monterey jack and cheddar cheese.
  • Avocado Lime Dressing – optional (or you can use store bought or dressing of choice)

Optional Variations and Dietary Adaptions

Feel free to add any extra veggies for additional volume and fiber! I love adding purple onion, red cabbage, creamy avocado, bell peppers, etc!

How To Make

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees F.
  2. Once preheated, add nuggets and air fry for 8-10 minutes or until crisp.
  3. Add 1/4 of everything to four bowls, or store components separately and assemble when ready to eat.
  4. Serve with avocado lime dressing, or dressing of choice, and enjoy!

How To Store

Store salads in fridge in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Store dressing separately. If I’m meal prepping these salads, I love using these little 2oz cups with lids to store my dressing in individual portions. You can also store the components separately and assemble when ready to eat.

Helpful Tips

  • Store ingredients separately and assemble when ready. For maximum freshness, I like to assemble my salad right before eating! This helps the lettuce stay fresh and the breading on the chicken nuggets to stay warm and crispy!
  • How to prep salads for on-the-go: Add all salad ingredients to a container and store chicken nuggets and dressing separately. I like to use these 2-oz. containers to store dressing when I am taking it on the go. Just heat chicken nuggets when ready to eat then add to salad with the dressing!
  • Save time: By using pre-cooked bacon and store-bought hard-boiled eggs (highly recommend at least cooking the bacon for the most crispiness!)

    FAQ: Chick-fil-A Cobb Salad Recipe

What other dressings can I use for this cobb salad recipe?

You can use any different dressing you want for this recipe! I love pairing it with the lightened up avocado lime dressing but you can also use my Skinny Honey Mustard, Creamy Balsamic Dressing, or your favorite dressing of choice!

Can I use grilled chicken for this salad?

Yes! If you prefer grilled chicken (or just want to save a few extra calories) you can use any type of cooked chicken! Try this salad with any leftover Blackened Chicken Tenders, Crispy Air Fryer Chicken, Grilled Pickle-Brined Chicken or Grilled Balsamic Chicken!

What’s the main difference in a classic cobb salad and a market salad?

A classic recipe for cobb salad typically includes chopped greens, tomatoes, bacon, chicken, hard-boiled eggs, and avocado. A generic chef salad is normally made with generic salad ingredients like cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, then meats such as ham, bacon and cheddar cheese. This recipe was inspired by Chick-fil-A’s version of a cobb salad that includes freshly breaded chicken, served on a fresh bed of mixed greens, topped with roasted corn kernels, a blend of shredded Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses, crumbled bacon, sliced hard-boiled egg and grape tomatoes.

Why should I make homemade chick-fil a cobb salad at home?

Just like any fast food copycat recipe, when you make it at home you can put your own twist on it! Easily adjust the ingredients or proportions to meet your preferences or add your favorite toppings for a unique flavor! Plus, it’s a lot cheaper and you know you are eating quality ingredients without all the extra oils or additives. Plus, when you make these recipes at home you can enjoy them whenever you want! Instructions

    • Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees F.
    • Once preheated, add nuggets and air fry for 8-10 minutes or until crisp.
    • Add 1/4 of everything to four bowls, or store components separately and assemble when ready to eat.
    • Serve with avocado lime dressing, or dressing of choice, and enjoy!

    Equipment

    • Air Fryer optional

    Notes

To make dairy-free: use dairy-free cheese and sub for dairy-free dressing (or use DF alternatives).
To store: store salads in fridge in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Store dressing separately. If I’m meal prepping these salads, I love using these little 2-oz cups with lids to store my dressing in individual portions. You can also store the components separately and assemble when ready to eat.
    How To Hard-Boil Eggs:
    1. Place eggs in a large saucepan. Cover them with cool water by 1 inch. Bring water to a boil (for easier to peel eggs, add 1/2 Tbsp salt and 1 Tbsp vinegar). Once at a rolling boil, set the timer for exactly 10 minutes (for perfect hard-boiled eggs) then remove from heat. Run eggs over cold water for a few minutes until all the hot water is gone and you’re left with the cold water. Let eggs sit in the cool water for 10 minutes until they reach room temperature.
