Why You’ll Love This Blueberry Salad Dressing
- Sweet and tangy flavor: The natural sweetness of blueberries and tangy balsamic vinegar create the perfect balance!
- Ready in minutes: Just toss a few pantry staples in a blender and blend. It’s that easy!
- Versatile: This flavorful dressing is delicious on salads, grilled chicken, roasted veggies, or even as a dip during the summer months.
- Naturally sweetened: Made with real fruit and optional honey—this dressing is free of refined sugar and preservatives.
- Fresh and flavorful: Homemade dressing always tastes WAY better than store-bought!

- Fresh blueberries: The key ingredient! I highly recommend using plump, sweet blueberries for this dressing when they’re in peak season. If you need to use frozen, thaw the blueberries and make sure to drain them/pat them dry before blending so they don’t add too much extra liquid and blend smoothly.
- Extra virgin olive oil: Use a good quality extra virgin olive oil that has a subtle flavor. Make sure not to use light olive oil (which is better for cooking).
- Honey: Adds the perfect touch of sweetness to this dressing. You can also use pure maple syrup.
- Balsamic vinegar: You can substitute white balsamic vinegar to have a lighter color vinaigrette.
- Fresh lemon juice: Make sure to use FRESH lemon juice for this easy vinaigrette! The bottled stuff just doesn’t taste the same and you won’t the freshness in this dressing.
- Garlic: A fresh minced clove or frozen cube both work!
How To Make
The full printable recipe is below, but let me walk you through the process so you know what to expect when you’re making it!

1. To a small blender or mini food processor, add the blueberries, olive oil, honey, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice and garlic.

2. Pulse/blend until well combined. Taste. Season with a tiny pinch of salt and pepper, or to your taste. Add more honey or any other ingredient as needed.
This homemade blueberry vinaigrette will keep fresh for 5-6 days stored airtight in a glass jar the fridge. Natural oil separation will occur, just give it a good shake or stir before using.
Helpful Tips
- Use ripe, fresh or frozen blueberries: Fresh berries offer the brightest flavor, but frozen blueberries work just as well—just thaw them first so they blend smoothly.
- Opt for a quality vinegar and oil: A good balsamic and extra virgin olive oil can make all the difference. Feel free to use fruit vinegars for extra sweetness.
- Sweeten to taste: Blueberries can vary in sweetness. You may need to adjust the amount of honey if needed to get the right amount of sweet flavor.
- Balance the acidity: If the balsamic blueberry vinaigrette tastes too tangy, adjust the amount of oil or sweetener. If it’s too sweet, add a little lemon juice to help brighten it up.
- Blend until smooth: Use a high-speed blender for a silky texture. If needed, strain through a fine-mesh sieve to remove blueberry skins for an ultra-smooth finish.
- Creamy dressing: Want it creamier? Add a spoonful of Greek yogurt to make this dressing have a creamier/thicker consistency.
