About This Recipe
I know, I know… salmon isn’t everyone’s favorite. But I promise, if you give this Honey Garlic Salmon recipe a shot you might be convinced otherwise. It’s seriously so good and SO easy to make. The perfect combination of honey and garlic pair perfectly with each bite of salmon.
This honey garlic salmon recipe is perfect for salads, sandwiches, pitas, bowls and so much more. I love it paired with my Skinny Fettuccini Alfredo or topped on a Greek Salad. Honestly just eating it straight up with some Air Fried Green Beans and Roasted Potatoes is how we usually enjoy it!

Why You’ll Love This Honey Garlic Salmon
- A delicious way to mix up your usual protein!
- I promise, even it you aren’t a seafood lover, you’ll love this recipe.
- Super healthy and high in protein!
- Simple ingredients and ready in 25 minutes (only 10 minutes of actual cooking!)
- Perfect for salads, sandwiches, pitas, rice bowls and more!
- Salmon – I used Atlantic salmon. The individual-sized salmon from the frozen section works great because then all you have to do is defrost and marinate. But you can use a large piece of salmon and cut into smaller pieces too. I recommend keeping the skin on because it will be easier to peel off any way once it’s cooked, plus it helps keep the moisture in while it cooks!
- Garlic – fresh or frozen cubes work great. Garlic cloves bring out the most fresh flavor but in a pinch you can use garlic powder.
- Honey
- Lemon – I also recommend fresh lemon juice but in a pinch, use
- Cooking essentials – salt, pepper, and olive oil.
How To Make
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper.
- Place salmon fillets in a large resealable Ziplock bag and pour marinade over. Squeeze as much air out as possible and seal the bag. Gently move fillets around inside the bag to make sure they are all evenly coated. Place flesh side down and let marinate for 10-15 minutes in the fridge.
- Spray a large nonstick or cast iron skillet with coking spray and set to medium heat. Add oil, then place salmon fillets flesh side down and cook for 4-5 minutes.
Can I cook this salmon in the air fryer?
Yes! Preheat air fryer to 400F. When ready to cook, spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add the salmon to the air fryer basket in an even layer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the salmon is no longer pink.
How do I know my salmon is done?
According to the USDA, the thickest part of a salmon filet or side should reach an internal temperature of 145°F. You salmon should become light pink and flaky when done.
Can I use a different type of salmon?
Yes, you can use any type of salmon for this recipe. Just note, some of the thinner and less fatty varieties (coho, sockeye, etc.) might not take as long to cook.
