Growing up, I remember being so intrigued of blogging. A blog. The idea of someone out there, just like me, who decided one today to create their own portal of expressing their interests, thoughts, knowledge, whatever else it might be. I remember envisioning what their voices sounded like as I read the words from the screen (okay I still do this) and enjoyed their personal perception and interpretation they offered.

I thought about starting a blog a couple of times over the years, but each time before my mind always shifted to all the reasons I shouldn’t start one: “What would I write about?”, “my life isn’t that interesting”, who would even read it?” Except for maybe my mom, which shout out to her for always being my number 1 fan. <3

But this time, I thought, “why the hell shouldn’t I?” I thought of all the reasons I should start a blog:

  • For one, I have a lot to say. I have so many thoughts that run through my head on a daily basis that I don’t know what to do with them. I can barely get out my original thoughts before my brain races to something else. And to be honest, I believe having an outlet to express this will not only help me collect my thoughts, but also help interpret and analyze them so that I can actually apply and do something with them.
  • Secondly, I want to make a difference and truly help others in any way I can. I’ve struggled with being able to maintain and adjust my mindset, body image, eating disorders, anxiety (still do), to name a few.  I’ve come a long way from where I once was and I learned a lot in the process. I know how it feels to be stuck, without direction, not knowing what to do next; and I want to help other’s overcome these obstacles in whatever way I can. Even if it just makes a small difference in one person’s life. Call me crazy, but I 100% believe that sharing my stories and what worked for me can help others going through similar situations too.
  • Thirdly, I feel that this is the perfect time in my life to start this hobby, adventure, outlet, whatever you want to call it. Not only do I feel like my mindset is in the strongest place, but there is so much changing right now and I want to document and continue sharing my journey with others! I am about to start my first “adult” job as a registered nurse which I am very excited and nervous about. Not only that, but me and my boyfriend, Simon, just moved to Washington, D.C. with our two dogs. The first time we’ve both ever lived in a place other than our home state of North Carolina. I want to document this adventure and share it with family, friends, and anyone else who may be interested.

What will I be posting about?

Well, I want to integrate everything I talked about above. That, plus healthy recipes, latest exercise and nutrition research, as well as positivity and mindset encouragement and tips.

Fitness and Nutrition are two very important aspects of my life and something I’ve developed a strong passion for. One of my favorite things to do is experiment in the kitchen with new recipes and finding different ways of making the classic “bad-for-you” foods, healthy. I want to share these healthy recipes and show the world that you can still eat yummy food and lose weight/live a balanced lifestyle.

Not only that, but I am a total science nerd (I actually got my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science before going to nursing school). Legit, I am one of those weird people who enjoys researching all things fitness and nutrition related in their free time. I look to gather the most accurate and relevant data related to body composition, best nutrition and training for gaining muscle and losing weight, improving exercise performance, supplements, hormones and their effect on the body, etc. I know this kind of information can be hard to find and interpret, but I believe that it is so valuable. That is why I want to filter out the latest research and share with you the most important points in a way that it is easy to understand and apply to everyday life.

Finally, I want to discuss mindset, how to overcome mental obstacles, how to channel energy, positivity, and all things self-love and self-growth related. Another thing that I thoroughly enjoy is listening to various podcasts related to growth and self development. I want to share these amazing podcasts and ideas, as well as give my insights on them and what I have found works for me.

I am so excited to start this adventure and continue creating content of each of these things that are so important to me. I hope you can find some of it useful and continuing following me through this journey!
