Ingredients

  • 12 small slider rolls savory or hawaiian
  • 1 cup shredded triple cheddar cheese (112g)
  • 4 hot dogs Any hot dogs will work–beef, turkey or chicken–use your favorite. I used Applegate beef hot dogs here. Also tested with Oscar Mayer natural turkey hot dogs (macros similar too) and it was really good!
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion (80g)
  • 1 Tbsp melted butter (14g)
  • garlic salt
  • finely chopped chives optional to garnish

Chili:

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef I used 96/4
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion (80g)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (5g)
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp: garlic powder, onion powder & dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp: salt & black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste (16g)
  • 1/3 cup ketchup (80g)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water (120g)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Chili: Cook beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until brown, breaking into small pieces as it cooks. Reduce heat to low. Add the onions, Worcestershire sauce, and all the spices; cook for 1-2 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, ketchup and beef broth. Let simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, or until it reaches desired thickness. If the chili becomes too thick, add extra beef broth or water.
  • Sliders: Slice rolls lengthwise with a large serrated knife separating the tops from the bottoms.
  • Place the bottom halves in the baking dish. Sprinkle half of the cheese over top.
  • Cut each hot dog lengthwise into two halves, then arrange them side by side on top of the cheese. Next, add the chili over the hot dogs. Then top with the remaining cheese and diced onion. Add the top halves of rolls. Brush melted butter over top and sprinkle with garlic salt. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Garnish with chives if desired and enjoy!

Notes

These Chili Cheese Dog Sliders are best enjoyed fresh and warm, right out of the oven. However, store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
To reheat, pop them in the microwave for a few seconds or reheat in the air fryer to help the bun get crispy again.
