I love these crispy BBQ Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer because they're simple to make, have the most delicious honey bbq flavor and a crowd favorite! These wings are perfect for game-day or as a great appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. chicken wings
  • 1/2 Tbsp olive oil (7g)
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch (16g)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (120g) I used G Hugh’s honey
  • 1/4 cup honey (84g)
  • Sliced green onions for garnish
  • Celery sticks, ranch dressing, etc, for serving

Instructions

Air Fryer Method:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  • Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel (this helps them crisp up better!)
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder and paprika. Add the wings to the bowl and toss with the cornstarch mixture.
  • Add wings in a single layer to the air fryer (if they’re touching, they won’t get as crispy), and cook for 10 minutes. Flip the chicken wings and cook for another 7-8 minutes or until the wings are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Heat the BBQ sauce and honey in a microwave safe bowl or in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Toss the cooked wings in the honey BBQ sauce in a large bowl (or by dipping one by one). Transfer wings to a tray or platter for serving. Serve with celery, chips, ranch, whatever sounds good and enjoy!

Oven Method:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Transfer the wings to the lined baking sheet in a single layer (but not touching). Bake for 20 minutes, take out and flip the wings over. Then bake for another 20-25 minutes or until the wings are golden brown.

Notes

Notes: The number of wings per serving will vary depending on if you’re eating this as an appetizer, as a meal, and just personal preference in general. So I left the serving size 1 for this one just for easy logging for everyone. Obviously eat more than one! I’ll usually have anywhere from 2-4 just depending on what I'm serving these with.
