These creamy grits are a Southern staple that can be enjoyed in countless ways and are the perfect compliment to any breakfast.

To make, add water, milk, salt and 2 teaspoons butter to a medium saucepan or pot. Bring to a boil.

As soon as you see the liquid start to boil, start whisking.

Slowly start adding the grits, whisking them in as you go to help reduce clumps. Keep whisking the entire time adding the grits, taking about 30 seconds to add, and then for another 30 seconds.

Reduce heat to low. Cover and stir every 2-3 minutes with a wooden spoon scraping the bottom of the pot and sides to keep the grits from sticking to the pan.

Stir in remaining butter and black pepper. Taste and adjust salt as needed.
