Chicken Sausage & Cheddar Egg White Pizza

Chicken sausage and cheddar cheese meet doughy crescent rolls in this delicious and easy breakfast pizza! Low in fat and full in flavor – you will want to eat this pizza at every meal!

Can we all just take a second to appreciate the DELICIOUSNESS of the amazing crescent roll. I am so obsessed with those doughy little carbs of perfection that it is SCARY. I recently bought 10 containers at the grocery store because I didn’t even want to risk the fact of not having any. You know, in case of an “emergency.” I mean you never know right!

In an effort to get my breakfast pizza to turn out the right way this time (see Upside-Down Cheesy Garlic Egg White Pizza), I went back to the kitchen to experiment! I had some chicken maple sausage that I knew I wanted to add, and I reached for the cheddar this time instead.

The result…….?!?! HOLY FIRE BREAKFAST PIZZA YALL. HOLY FIRE TASTE BUDS. There are no words.

Unlike the Upside-Down Cheesy Garlic Egg White Pizza, I was actually able to get this pizza to be the right side up! While it does require an extra step, this recipe is still super easy! Simon is a big fan as well, so I have no doubt that this will remain a staple in our house!

HOW TO MAKE

This time, I made sure to cook the egg whites first. Putting aluminum foil in the pan was necessary to keep the egg whites together and preventing sticking when trying to take out!

Once they were done, I took them out and let them, while still in the aluminum foil, on top of a cooling rack.

Meanwhile, I spread the 4 crescent rolls out with my fingers, tearing off a couple of ends here and there, making it form a square as close as I could. The dough went back in the oven for 5 minutes until it started to rise.

After 5 minutes of cooking, I took the dough out. I carefully removed the egg whites from the aluminum foil and placed the egg white sheet across the dough.

Now the easy part! Sprinkle with cheese and top with the sausage. Place back in the oven until the cheese is melty melty gooooood!

Chicken Sausage and Cheddar Egg White Pizza

Cook Time 40 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ tin crescent rolls (4 rolls)
  • 1 cup egg whites (240g)
  • 4 links Trader Joe's Maple Chicken Breakfast Sausage (114g)
  • 1/8 cup fat-free shredded cheddar cheese (14g)
  • 1/8 cup shredded 2% cheddar cheese (14g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F. Line a 8x8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and then spray with cooking spray.
  2. Shake the carton of egg whites and then pour into the pan. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste, and gently stir around.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes, or until egg whites are done. Remove egg white sheet from pan. Let sit on a cool rack in the aluminum foil for the time being.
  4. Spray the baking pan with cooking spray again. Stretch out the 4 crescent rolls and press into the bottom of the pan. You may need to wait a little for the pan to cool before you do this (I waited about 5 minutes), or you can simply use another pan.
  5. Place the dough into the oven and bake for 5 minutes. Take out, and gently place the egg white sheet on top. Sprinkle the cheese evenly across, then top with the sliced sausage.
  6. Place the pan back in the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted. Let cool, slice into 8 slices, and enjoy!

  2. I NEED to find a gluten free alternative to crescent rolls so I can try this recipe 🙁 I wonder if anything else similar would work…..the recipe is just too good looking to pass up

  4. Okay so listen up to all foodie macro lovers! This recipe needs to added to a great meal prep go to!!!! It’s first super simple , great for that budget life and SUPER TASTY! Go make it, everyone should! It also super fun for when you have breakfast for dinner to mix it up.
